Zoo Grid Symbol
Jesse KuhnThis project introduced students to issues of abstraction and grid-based symbol design. Sketches were gradually refined to the final form, which was inked by hand.

Assignment Objective
This course was designed for 2nd year undergraduate design students. It reinforced student research and sketching practices by requiring extensive photo documentation of a chosen animal form, both from books and the Web. It also permitted continued exploration of the grid as a design tool.As with most assignments in this introductory design course, this project also emphasized the development of craft through technical pen renderings and paste-ups prepared for PMT (photo-mechanical transfer).
